Throughout my childhood, I was thrilled whenever my mother gathered her acrylic paints and canvases together for another day of joyful creative expression. I would watch intently as she mixed and loaded colors to softly brush onto the canvas. She often let me help, and it was inspiring to see the vibrant colors forming images across the canvas.

My introduction to watercolor occurred during our family vacations to Florida. I am grateful for the artistic influence of our longtime friend who lived in Florida and painted primarily with watercolors. Mom and I often went to her house to watch her paint. We enjoyed learning from her, and I was fascinated by how the watercolors moved and changed as they dried.

Photography also became an important part of my childhood when I was given a camera for my birthday. I was excited about the endless photographic possibilities. Mom had the foresight to not include the flash on my first camera. Even without being able to shoot in the dimly lit areas, I had plenty of opportunities for surprise photographs. Mom made sure that she developed all of the pictures in those days, so that no "unappreciated" pictures ever returned from the store. My brother and sisters quickly learned to be on the lookout for my photographic adventures. Along with the family fun, I learned to take useful pictures for science fairs and other school projects. I also used photography to promote the work my parents and I did buying and selling antiques throughout my teenage years. I earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville before I began a career in public accounting. My journey continues with a desire to learn from every aspect of life.

After spending six and a half years in public accounting, I worked for a manufacturing company for over twenty five years. My artistic skills were used in advertising and promoting this manufacturing company throughout my employment. Many of my images were used online, at trade shows, in publications, and even for decorating various offices.

For the past several years, I have been experimenting with different combinations of painting and photography. I have explored new mediums and techniques to discover which ones complimented each other. I now use this knowledge to balance the strengths of different mediums and to accentuate the primary focus of each photograph or painting combining these mediums.

My goal as an artist is to create unique pieces of art that reflect and illuminate a story or message. I have appreciated art throughout my life, and I am thankful for everyone who has made it possible for me to work as a photographer and artist.

My passion is to empower you to discover your artistic moments whether its by owning beautiful unique artwork, participating in and experiencing the creation process of a personalized piece of art, or learning to create your own masterpiece.
